Hey folks! Hope you are all well!
After my wonderful opportunity down in London on BBC Radio 4’s All in the Mind, I’ve had plenty to be getting on with! This is specific to my ‘grounded goods movement‘ Keep Real, which is a brand dedicated to providing goods and garments promoting a mentally healthy lifestyle (Please go ahead and like the new Facebook page!). I’ve been having plentiful meetings and ideas going around, and I haven’t been promoting it as much because, well… it’s the most challenging and amazing thing I’ve ever done!
At the moment, it’s all about the research- and I’m potentially pitching my idea to a panel in the next week or so as a social enterprise. For folks who don’t know what social enterprises are, they ‘are businesses that trade to tackle social problems, improve communities, people’s life chances, or the environment. They make their money from selling goods and services in the open market, but they reinvest their profits back into the business or the local community.’ Keep Real will reinvest the profits back in to the business itself and mental health charities (Keep Real will actively raise awareness in mental health too!)
I’m so excited about what’s going on, although I can’t share much at this stage- I cannot wait to see where Keep Real will go next year. Keep your eyes peeled! But for now, it’s about connecting with lovely folk like you and spreading lots of good vibes to every follower I have!
You can check out Keep Real here on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
All the ❤ folks, thank you for believing in me!
Hey folks! Sorry it’s been a few days since I did a post- but with life getting in the way (as it does!), it’s hard to find a time to sit down and type some good things up! So here’s what I’ve been getting up to…
Next Tuesday I will be on BBC Radio 4 with Claudia Hammond for ‘All in the Mind’ discussing mental health in teenagers. Exciting times!!! I will post a link nearer the time, but if you’d like to check out the infographic, you can do so here. Discussing on a panel of wonderful souls concerning mental health was such a humbling experience. Raising awareness is so important, and it was nice to share parts of my story too. Be sure to tune in on the 27th at 9pm!
I’ve really been focusing on establishing my goods brand Keep Real as a concrete idea, ready to process all my thoughts and ideas into something I think has masses of potential. Once it’s out there, I really hope you love it! Just gotta have the drive and faith to create ❤ I’ve been taking in all the inspiration from my lovely home in Yorkshire, which you’ll see through the brand as a collection.
This week has also been part of a job search, as I had my second interview at Hollister Co as a Manager in Training. I have my fingers and toes crossed- and I am extremely thankful for whatever way it sways. What a beautiful brand to be interviewed by!
I’m taking every day as it comes, going with the flow and being kind to myself. I am feeling all kinds of good fuzzy vibes lately, and I hope it continues into next week.
I hope this post finds you well, and that your week has been good to you so far!
Sending all my ❤ to you, and as always – keep real! x
Hey folks! Thought I’d begin sharing some photos from my recent scribblings and sketches for my brand Keep Real. Let me know what you think! This one is smaller than a cup and it’s a simpler spin on an old design ❤ Think I’ll be doing more designs like this!
Hello my lovelies! How’s your day been? It’s been such a wonderful day here in Yorkshire (with a slight pour of rain for some time!) with such business-y things to do!
Today was the day to research suppliers, email quotes, get down some ideas for branding and working with ideas for fabrics, materials and seeing what direction I want to go in with Keep Real. (P.s- I’ve finally made an Instagram page for it, if you’d like to give it a follow!). It’s safe to say, everything is definitely on track. Keep Real is an authentic, home-grown collection of garments and goods inspired by the botanical, natural and traditional. I want that fresh feeling for the brand, cultivated with everyone in mind. Keep Real stands for feeling good inside and out. Keepin’ it real, so to speak.
Also today, I have been looking around homeware stores and researching prices for the goods part of Keep Real, with a nod towards making it a high street store. It’s just to keep things in mind of the bigger picture. Although it is early stages yet, creating a store is the big dream! It get’s me all excited and that ‘fuzzy feeling’ when I walk into big warehouses and imagine what my store would look like. Urban, fresh, botanical and completely keepin’ it real.
I have a quarterly business meeting next week to discuss my ideas and how far I’ve come with the collection. It’s so important to ask myself questions like ‘Is my business heading in the direction I want it to?’ ‘Have I made progress?’ ‘Are folk really liking my designs, or should I change my ideas?’ etc. It’s also vital to ask questions too to the right people! So things like ‘Could I find a supplier internationally?’ ‘Are my designs good enough to print?’ ‘Is my cashflow summary accurate enough?’ ‘Have I budgeted correctly?’.
Sometimes I struggle with myself to believe I’m making progress. Social media is quite an overwhelming tool to grasp, especially from a business perspective. I’d love for people to check out Keep Real- but I don’t want to force people too either! I am so passionate about the brand, but telling folk all the time to ‘like’ this or ‘follow’ that makes me see myself as a huge nag. And nobody wants that do they?!
So today has been all about plotting and scheming, budgeting and reading. I just have to have faith in myself and what Keep Real as a brand stands for! And I hope folk have faith in me too!
Sending you all so much love and keep real goodness. Be well! x
Hello my little cherubs! It’s the last day of the weekend, but don’t be so glum! Whatever your Sunday may be, I hope you are enjoying it!! Feel that posi power!
My brand Keep Real is processing the final designs ready for production. Picture loads of hand-crafted mandalas (symbols of the universe), botanical prints, dotwork skulls and posi power. All the designs I create are hand drawn, sketched and inked. I have loads of products in mind; t-shirts, vests, shirts, notebooks, bags etc. At the moment, it’s all about getting prices for manufacturing and selecting the right materials, each garment and product is extremely limited. Keep Real has that earthy and authentic feel. It all comes down to that down to earth vibe.
It’s all about feeling good about yourself, and extending that to others. Be kind, always. Keep everything real. There is nothing more authentic than the love you can give and receive.
All the garments and goods have meaning surrounding the design or craft. They are reminders, and an extension of yourself to be the beautiful soul that you truly are ❤ Support your friends, strive to be the best version of yourself and go with the flow. That’s what Keep Real is all about, and I hope you are too ❤
Get ya’self on my Instagram for all the rad shots and designs coming up! There is also a Keep Real Twitter page too.
Such love to all of you, thank you for following my blog and the journey of design and light ❤
Hello my wonderful followers! Hope this finds you well ❤ I did a post ages ago about Keep Real (see it here about the mission), however I haven’t done anything recently apart from my design updates. Also, there are some tabs at the top of my website/blog about KR. It’s very much a part of my life with establishing a garment and goods movement. I don’t see it as a separate entity, but part of who I am! It is a mission of being authentic in design and promoting mental wellness. Keep an eye out for more posts on Keep Real anyway here on kimmykeepreal.com!
So, Keep Real. Now as some of you may or may not know, it is my clothing and goods brand. All the designs I work on, all have related messages of positivity, symbols of the universe and feeling real good about yourself. I see a lot of positive clothing companies/businesses that really drive powerful messages to wonderful people. Most do this through t-shirts with rad quotes on, and messages of their own. Keep Real isn’t like that so much. I hand craft each design, pulling inspiration from my surroundings, botanical, tattoo orientated and natural. It’s got that down to earth feel, each piece authentic and limited. It also carries the message that being kind to yourself and each other is a movement of happiness; ultimately a life of love and content. ❤
I gotta say, I have worked my butt off to get this far. While at University, I’ve worked two jobs so I could save up that lil’ bit of dolla to maybe pay for designs being made and figuring out how to screen print garments. It’s so so worth it, because the message is so important. You gotta KEEP REAL. Be yourself. Be proud of who you are. Kindness to yourself and those around you will make you go far ❤

I also have a survery (click HERE) about the clothing brand, if you’d like to quickly fill it in. It would help so so much ❤
